Nasima says “It is absolutely essential to be passionate about your craft and constantly seek inspiration. I dive into books, write, and explore what truly ignites my interest in the field. Taking the time to study the work of others, learning from their experiences, and gaining inspiration from their achievements keeps me motivated and helps me grow as a creative professional.” Nasima emphasises the importance of staying curious and continuously expanding on ones knowledge and skills.

Empowering Muslim Women Artists: Building a Supportive Community and Celebrating Diverse Voices in the Art World

Nasima is an integral part of a group called 'Chatterbox', where she plays a vital role in creating a supportive environment for Muslim women. She explains, "I play an important role in creating a supportive and empowering environment for Muslim women to thrive in their artistic pursuits. We provide a platform for these talented individuals to showcase their work, collaborate, and grow together." Nasima finds true fulfillment in being part of a community that nurtures the development of Muslim women artists.

Nasima's collaboration with the community arts organisation "Made in Roath" gave her an excellent opportunity to exhibit the work of Muslim women artists. She expresses, "Being a part of Made in Roath allowed muslim women to have a platform in order to make meaningful contributions to the artistic community." Through this collaboration, Nasima and her team strive to break barriers and create a more inclusive art world where diverse voices are celebrated. She considers it a privilege to amplify the talents of these artists and promote diversity in the art world.

Developing Creative brilliance

Nasima's main ambition is to build on the success of Chatterbox and provide even more opportunities for creative Muslim women to showcase their talents. She explains, "By creating a nurturing and supportive environment, I hope to help these members further develop their skills and flourish in their respective fields." Nasima believes in the power of empowerment and uplifting one another. She sees the premises of G39 as a fantastic opportunity to expand her efforts. Nasima expresses, "Utilizing the premises of G39 would be a fantastic opportunity for me to expand this. It's a vibrant and inspiring space where I can collaborate with other talented individuals and explore new artistic horizons." She strongly believes that by coming together and sharing creativity, remarkable things can be created.

Nasima’s advice for aspiring creatives

“It's important not to limit yourself to research alone. Taking action and continuously creating, even without commissions, shows industry professionals your dedication and commitment to honing your skills. Use this time to develop your ideas, experiment, and refine your artistic voice. Remember, rejection is part of the journey. Instead of being discouraged by setbacks, view them as opportunities to learn and grow. Each rejection provides valuable insights that can help you improve and refine your work. Keep applying to different places, seeking new opportunities, and pushing yourself to reach new heights. Stay passionate, curious, and persistent. With dedication, research, and a willingness to learn from both successes and failures, you'll be well on your way to making your mark in the field.”
